RECRUIT

Building a society where you can pursue who you are, safely.

This society still does not have enough places where you will not be denied. Luna is a platform that faces the many shapes relationships can take — BDSM, fetish, polyamory — head-on.

We are hiring.

For the first two months the service was free. We have never run a single ad. Users kept arriving anyway, and revenue has grown every fiscal year since. This is the moment to join a company that is about to get much bigger.

Figures as of August 2026. Our fiscal year starts in August (FY1 = August 2022 – July 2023). Registered users are actual figures; only revenue is shown as an index against FY1, because absolute revenue is not disclosed.

Luna has never run an ad since it was founded. Users still grew fifteen-fold over four fiscal years. The reason is simple: the services that already existed were not places you could use safely.

What we put first is safety, not revenue. Build somewhere people can use safely, and the people who need it find it themselves and tell others. In practice, almost all of our growth has come from word of mouth.

That is why our principle is: do not force growth; it is enough that the people who need us find us. The numbers were never the goal. They followed from protecting this place.

These are messages sent to Luna. What is written here is the meaning of our work.

Woman, 30s

I signed up thinking this was the last place left

Because of things that happened to me before, being around people frightened me for a long time. I signed up feeling there was nowhere else to go. Being able to exchange words here mattered more to me than I expected.

Man, 20s

I could believe I wasn't strange

On other services, things never quite fit. I was worn out from explaining myself and still not being understood, so simply knowing there were people I could talk to made things lighter.

Man, 30s

I found somewhere I belong

When I'm with the person I met here, I feel safe. For the first time I could believe it was all right to be exactly as I am.

Woman, 40s

What used to end things wasn't a problem here

On mainstream services I couldn't find anyone compatible, and nothing lasted. Here I didn't have to explain my starting point. I now have someone who matters to me.

Woman, 20s

I finally met the people on the other side of the screen

It was my first large gathering and I was nervous. Talking face to face with people I only ever texted was a joy. I learned that far more people struggle with the same things than I had thought.

These are real messages, summarized and edited so that the people who sent them cannot be identified. Age ranges and genders have been adjusted for the same reason. We do not publish account names or the original posts.

The people Luna works for are the ones who find it hard to be themselves in daily life. The company began with our founder's own experience: the conviction that a lack of knowledge causes harm, and the regret of wishing there had been somewhere safe to exist.

So we define BDSM not as stimulation or consumption, but as a craft of relationships built out of dialogue, consent, distance and mutual understanding.

If the existing market is stimulation × consumption, Luna's market is safety × relationships. Keeping this place safe is not a cost to us. It is an asset.

What we will never trade away

  • Revenue is not the goal. It is the result.
  • We do not force growth. It is enough that the people who need us find us.
  • We protect everyone's right to be themselves without being denied.
Keiji Goto
Keiji Goto Representative Director / CEO, Luna Inc.

Luna was founded with the mission of creating a society where people can pursue who they are, safely. We respect diverse values, and we build places where anyone can freely enjoy living as themselves.

In today's society, pursuing who you are is not easy. Many people are looking for somewhere their identity and their values are understood and respected. Luna exists to answer that, by providing a platform where you can pursue who you are, safely.

I have been through a lot myself, and what struck me most is how much connection between people matters. I hope that everyone who uses Luna finds their own way of living, and meets someone remarkable along the way.

Luna today is full of people with real skill and real conviction. We support everyone who works with us in pursuing what they want to do and the life they want to live. And as everyone grows, Luna will keep growing with them.

01

Users first

Always take the user's point of view, and put delivering value to them above everything else.

02

Everything is your own

Treat every task and every problem as something you are responsible for, and see it through.

03

Speed

Don't stall by overthinking. Move quickly.

04

Change

Don't fear change. Try, get it wrong, and keep evolving.

05

Bring heat

Be genuinely fired up, pass that energy on, and chase the best possible result together.

How we work

Luna is an IT company. Everyone here works with AI.

Using AI is required

This is not “nice to have.” Every member works on the assumption that AI is part of the job. Researching, organizing, drafting, verifying — we use AI for all of it, so that people can concentrate on thinking and deciding. This applies to every role, without exception.

Basic computer skills are assumed

Spreadsheets, documents, text communication in Slack. We assume you can use these as everyday tools.

You don't need experience with AI yet

We look at whether you will use it, not whether you already can. Picking it up after you join is fine. But if your position is that you would rather not use AI, the way we work will not suit you.

We would love to hear from you if

  • You share Luna's vision and can throw yourself into it
  • You are drawn to startups and want hands-on experience
  • You take initiative and can adapt to a range of work
  • You value teamwork while being able to run with things on your own
  • You enjoy proposing creative, efficient solutions and creating new value

If you see the problems in the kink and BDSM world as your own, and you want to change that world, we would like to hear from you.

Office or remote depends on the role and contract

  • There is no blanket “you must come in” rule. Depending on the work and the contract type, a role is office-based, hybrid, or mostly remote. Each opening states which.
  • Work that goes faster face to face happens in the office; the rest is flexible. We moved offices in May 2026 (Office New Gaia Hamamatsucho No.17, 9F, 1-15-13 Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo).

Remote work can be arranged

  • Not only for engineers but for business roles too, switching to remote is possible depending on the work and your circumstances (health, personal commitments).
  • We are not fully remote, but we have built an environment that can flex.

A range of contract types

  • Full-time, side work, contractor, part-time — you can choose the arrangement that fits your situation.
  • You can start as part-time or a contractor and later move to full-time employment with social insurance as your life changes.

Flexible hours are possible

  • The standard start time is 10:00, but you can discuss a different start time for health or personal reasons.
  • Let's build an environment where you can do your best work.

Dress and self-expression are up to you

  • Clothing, nails, hair color and style, tattoos and piercings are generally up to you.
  • There is no business-casual or suit requirement. Jeans, a T-shirt and sandals are fine.

A workplace built on diversity

  • We welcome people of every background, not only sexual minorities.
  • Around 30% of our staff are women, and members including LGBTQ+ people are active across the company.

Flat and open

  • Rather than top-down direction, each person has a wide remit to run their own work.
  • Part-time staff and contractors can raise ideas easily and see them acted on.

Click a role to see the work, requirements and terms in detail. Note that the detailed postings are written in Japanese.

Usually two to three conversations including the first casual chat, over ten days to a month.

  1. 1

    Casual chat

A chance to get to know each other. This is not part of the assessment.

  2. 2

    Interview

We go through the work and the terms together and build a shared understanding.

  3. 3

    Agreeing terms and offer

We settle on an arrangement you are happy with, including how you work and the contract type.

It is completely fine if you have not decided whether to apply. Talk to us first and decide afterwards.

  1. Day 1 – week 1

    Get the whole picture

You start by using the service yourself and understanding the business and its users. Tool setup (Slack, Notion, our AI tools) happens here too. Asking about anything you don't know is expected.

  2. Month 1

Start on real work, in small pieces

We hand you real work in your area, scoped down. You are not expected to complete things alone from day one. We go through the steps with you.

  3. Months 2 – 3

Run it with your own judgment

Once the routine is yours, we hand over the judgment calls too. This is the point where we ask you how it could be better.

  • The probation period is one to three months, depending on contract type. The terms are the same as after you are confirmed in the role.
  • You will have a specific person teaching you. We are a small company, so everyone — including the CEO — is close at hand.
  • We value people who ask when they don't know. Getting stuck in silence is the harder problem.

Yes. We have members who are not part of the community themselves. What matters is that you do not deny the many shapes sexuality takes, and that you can meet them on equal terms.

Not at all. Most Luna members joined with no experience in this field. Picking it up after you join is enough.

No. Media appearances and external communication are handled by our CEO, and no member is put in public view without their consent. We take great care with members' personal information.

Of course. The casual chat is not part of the assessment; it is a chance for us to tell you about Luna and for both sides to understand each other. You can decide whether to apply afterwards.

Yes. Conversion to full-time is possible depending on what you want and how the fit turns out. You can work with us first and decide once both sides know.

It depends on the role. Each posting states the contract types available, so please check there.

Let's talk first.

If any of this interests you even slightly, start with a casual chat.
